Abstract It is Islamic finance and Islamic economics that has been astoundingly successful in shaking up contemporary capital markets. Instead of merely promoting ethical finance, Islamic finance has obliged market participants to think afresh and develop new market mechanisms to lever in millions of dollars from investors across the world, particularly from the Persian Gulf region, Malaysia and Indonesia.
