Abstract: Abstract The chapter examines the international business and security nexus by exploring the emerging power: China. The chapter, firstly, discusses the geostrategic reality upon which the international business and security players are based. Second, it explains the interactions between the international business (IB) players, for example, home country and host country, and international security (IS) players, such as government actors. The following sections provide an intensive study on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and explain how the BRI relates to regional and international organizations and overseas national and subnational actors. The chapter argues that the BRI has guided the overall diplomacy, security policy, and economic policy of China and represents an example of cross-level interaction between IB and IS. Chinese government equates the development of neighboring Central Asian countries and Southeast Asian countries with the development of China, regions within China, and Chinese enterprises. The chapter draws implications for the IB-IS nexus by analyzing the geographical reality of China, the country’s geostrategic national projects and policies, the IB and IS actors at various levels in China, and their relationship with overseas counterparts.
