Chapter 4 in International Business and Security, 2022, pp 117-160 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The chapter examines the international business and security nexus by exploring India, the leading power in South Asia and an emerging market in the Indo-Pacific region. First, the chapter discusses the geostrategic reality upon which the Indian international business and security players stand. Second, it analyzes India’s policies and engagement in regional multilateral cooperation organizations that enhanced the interaction among Indian international business and security from a geostrategic dimension. The foreign policies that the Indian government has pushed forward, including the Look East policy, the Act East policy, the Doctrine of Security and Growth for All in the Region, and the Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative, have influenced India’s strategies in international security and business. Lastly, the chapter provides an in-depth study of India’s participation in the quadrilateral cooperation among the US, Japan, Australia, and India, that is, the Quad, and related development of India’s Indo-Pacific vision. By participating in the Quad, India has become a partner in maintaining and reinforcing the US-led international security order while securing the opportunity to develop industry standards for critical and emerging sectors.
