Chapter Chapter 15 in A Guide to Good Money, 2022, pp 247-260 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The deterioration in the capacity of money to fulfil its basic functions has gone so far that only radical reform will save us. In an ideal world, experiment would help societies in choosing the good money regime of the future. Getting to grips with the destructive power of money when misused, especially in fomenting asset inflation during the past half century and more, increases our appreciation and understanding of what makes good money. In turn, an understanding of how a good money system would work helps us to dissect the flaws in the current regime. That dissection is valuable not only in galvanising the forces of reform but also in helping us as individuals navigate a path through the economic and financial jungle.
