A chapter in Vocational Guidance in Europe, 2022, pp 141-166 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter focuses on the current challenges of Lithuania’s career sector. The research highlights the systematic problems that the institutions delivering career guidance face. As a result of this study, the recommendations that could help in dealing with these challenges will be suggested. The key challenges arise from lack of developed guidelines and policies within the careers sector and recommendation aim to develop further steps that would help to achieve positive outcomes. The research of this chapter has been conducted by analysis of existent literature and news outlets. However, some areas of work such as future jobs require separate research as information about this is not widely accessible and offers limited insight. The chapter results highlights that there is an urgent need for the government to act in developing the career sector while recognising the importance of career education and integrating it centrally within the overall strategy of education.
