Abstract:
Abstract In this work, we present the Nodal LTS N 2D solution using a new approach to determine the unknown but necessary angular fluxes at the domain boundaries. We consider the two-dimensional neutron transport problem in a Cartesian geometry and take into account isotropic scattering in a piecewise homogeneous rectangular medium, with either vacuum or reflective boundary conditions. In order to estimate the unknown fluxes at the boundary, we make use of the LTS N 1D solution applied to a set of one-dimensional problems across the two-dimensional domain. To this end, the original problem was approximated by segmenting the total domain into a finite set of subdomains with sufficiently small width so that within each subdomain a one-dimensional neutron transport problem may be considered. Then the unknown angular fluxes at the boundaries may be obtained from the LTS N solution together with the “DNI” technique (Dummy-Node Inclusion) applied to each one-dimensional problem. The numerical results obtained are presented and compared with the ones obtained by the DD method (Diamond Difference).
