Chapter 9 in In Good Conscience, 2022, pp 173-185 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In the final chapter of the book, we move from the actions of leaders to the way all of us can contribute to improving the organizations we have a stake in. We invite readers to make a difference. The essential ingredient here is that we have to care. If we care enough we can contribute, but we also need to be willing to take responsibility (some organizations make that easier for us to do than others), encourage transparency and be consistently human-centric. Of course, it is one thing to analyse the dilemmas that confront business and another to outline recipes for change. And yet another for it to happen. Should we be optimistic about this? The pessimistic view is that talk outruns actions, while in the optimist corner, there is a strong groundswell of activism in support of a more sustainable approach coming from investors, employees and consumers that should give us hope for the future.
