Abstract: Abstract In this chapter we present a survey of the static Jahn-Teller problems, with a focus on the structure of the adiabatic surface, surrounding the degenerate origin. The first section will be devoted to the main concepts and techniques to carry out this analysis. Subsequent sections deal with actual Jahn-Teller surfaces for orbital degeneracies from doublet to quintet.
