Chapter Chapter 10 in Computational Statics and Dynamics, 2023, pp 469-488 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter introduces to transient problems, i.e. problems where the state variables are time-dependent. The general treatment of transient problems is illustrated at the example of the rod element. Compared to the static case, the mass matrix and the solution procedure are one of the major differences. Furthermore, three different approaches to consider damping effects are briefly discussed.
