Chapter Chapter 1 in Stochastic Comparisons with Applications, 2022, pp 1-20 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract After giving an introduction to the area of stochastic orders, some basic definitions and notations are given in this chapter. Quantities like failure (hazard) rate, mean residual life function, and aging concepts like, IFR, IFRA, DMRL NBU, HNBUE, etc. are defined. A quick review of the distribution theory of order statistics and generalized order statistics is also given. The notions of copula, majorization, Schur, and TP 2 functions are introduced.
