Chapter Chapter 1 in Transparency in Business, 2023, pp 1-22 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter introduces the business transparency concept, exploring the range of its conceptual domain, providing a preliminary omnibus definition, and highlighting the significant scope of its positive and negative effects on business practice. It explores a range of definitions, finding transparency research to be siloed, overly focused on the disclosure of information, and often endorsing a “more-is-better” perspective, referred to here as the transparency principle. The chapter concludes by providing a roadmap for the book.
