Chapter Chapter 7 in Transparency in Business, 2023, pp 161-183 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter develops and presents an integrative framework of business transparency that actively seeks to build bridges across the business disciplines by identifying six common forms of transparency transcending disciplines, and parsing the information contained in the disclosure into its component characteristics that either facilitate or hinder understanding. On the basis of this theoretical development, a revised definition of business transparency is presented that expands its scope significantly by considering outcomes of mutual benefit, re-conceptualizing business transparency in a more balanced, interdisciplinary, versatile and integrative way than current definitions. Maximizing principles are dropped in favor of empathetic and satisficing mechanisms of disclosure.
