Chapter Chapter 12 in The Economics of Catalan Separatism, 2022, pp 81-85 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The Generalitat’s ‘education’ policy sidelines the mother tongue of more than half of the schoolchildren in Catalonia, it violates the truth in the curriculums for history, geography and literature and is profoundly antisocial. The separatist Generalitat’s educational policy practices what is known as ‘linguistic immersion’, which is to say, monolingual education in Catalan. This is contrary to children’s rights to education in their mother tongue, it contradicts the real bilingualism of the Catalans, it contradicts the co-official status of Spanish and Catalan, and it contradicts numerous court rulings.
