Chapter Chapter 30 in The Economics of Catalan Separatism, 2022, pp 191-198 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The fiscal balance is the ground zero of the separatist ‘economy’. It is here that all the lies swirl around, along with all the supposed evils of the past and present caused by perfidious Spain, and it is here too where all the supposed benefits of a hypothetical ‘independent’ Catalan republic are concentrated. Put briefly, “Spain robs us, and when it stops robbing us, we’ll be rich!”
