Chapter Chapter 1 in The Gas Industry in Latin Europe, 2023, pp 1-23 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract There is a lack of a global reflection on gas diffusion in Latin European countries. As for the specific historiography on which the scientific debate has been based, the work of reference is Serge Paquier and Jean-Pierre Williot’s L’industrie du gaz en Europe aux XIXe et XXe siècles (2005), which includes studies on various aspects of gas in France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, in addition to other texts on which the discussion on the history of energy in Europe has been recently based. The aim of the introductory chapter is to present the historiography and the reasons why we consider these countries as a relevant unit of analysis.
