Chapter 5 in The Language of Managerialism, 2023, pp 131-159 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Undoubtedly, business schools remain as one of—or perhaps even ‘the’—core institutions where the language of Managerialism is invented. The language of Managerialism is, in part, also invented by the so-called management gurus. These are the ones who cannot spell the word ‘charlatan’ as Peter Drucker once said. Yet, they thrived from what is known as the guru-effect. This means that they can judge something as profound—particularly those things that they have failed to grasp.
