Abstract: Abstract The importance of apiculture stems from its contributions to food security, poverty alleviation, and climate change mitigation. This study aims to identify threats to sustainability faced by the beekeeping sector through the analysis of its social, environmental, and economic dimensions and to reveal the innovation and technological development efforts being conducted to counteract the threats. The methodology integrates digital tools for network analysis (co-occurrence) based on published studies (2014–2022) to identify the most relevant topics in scientific production. Patent document analysis was also performed to strengthen the study and offer a broader perspective on technological advances in apiculture. Topics related to hive loss, bee mortality, diseases, and pests are conspicuous among the main results associated with sustainability. Concerning developed technologies, terms such as monitoring, nutrition, improvement of sanitary conditions, and digital intermediaries are noticeable. In addition, we analyzed the main technology sectors, jurisdictions, applicants, and other elements of interest. Undoubtedly, the beekeeping sector presents several significant problems and challenges; however, this study shows multiple areas of opportunity to promote its development.
