Abstract:
Abstract The travel and tourism industry has undergone an extreme makeover with technological development in recent years. The evolution and application of digital technologies have changed the way people live, work, do business, and travel; in this way, changes have reshaped the travel and tourism industry worldwide. The travel and tourism industry of India is no exception. Digitalization has transformed the overall experience of a traveler or tourist. The importance of digitalization is even more important in the present scenario of COVID-19, which has displayed a fragile picture of this sector and has halted almost every activity making it one of the worst suffered sectors. This paper is an explorative study attempting to assess the changes the Indian Travel and Tourism industry has undergone in digitalization in the past few years and also understand the same from tourists’ perceptions and the future digitalization holds for this sector.
