A chapter in The Emergence of a Tradition: Essays in Honor of Jesús Huerta de Soto, Volume I, 2023, pp 123-131 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Jesús Huerta de Soto is one of the great representatives of the Austrian School of Economics. His thought has always respected the essence of this school of thought, including the advances that Murray Newton Rothbard developed in the second half of the twentieth century. This represents a qualitative leap, building a theoretical corpus that causes a convergence between the Austrian School of Economics and the Public Choice School. His theory helps us to understand the predatory and coercive nature of the state and the perverse incentives it provokes by intervening in social life based on free and voluntary agreements. This chapter shows the relationship between the Austrian and Public Choice Schools and presents the contributions and value of the academic work of Jesús Huerta de Soto.
