Abstract: Zusammenfassung Ausgehend von einem statistischen Überblick über Naturkatastrophen werden in diesem Kapitel die schwerwiegenden wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Auswirkungen in Bezug auf Menschenleben, Existenzgrundlagen und Sachkapital dargestellt, mit kurz- und langfristigen Folgen für Wirtschaftswachstum und Entwicklung. Darüber hinaus wird die komplexe Beziehung zwischen Naturkatastrophen und dem Entwicklungsstand eines Landes analysiert.
