Chapter Chapter 17 in Development Delusions and Contradictions, 2023, pp 293-305 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter looks at the rarely discussed problem of differential pay scales in the development business. It looks at the excellent Western salaries and perks, at salaries of local hires, and also at the mostly abysmal recipient government salaries. It then asks what are the consequences of these huge pay differentials and what are the ultimate effects on partnerships and on teamwork?
