Chapter Chapter 16 in The Transformation of Georgia from 2004 to 2012, 2023, pp 135-144 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter explains Georgia’s banking sector before and after 2004. It discusses principles behind its transformation from 2004: the role of the central bank, sectoral governance, competition and private ownership, avoidance of a moral hazard and of policy drifts. The chapter explains factors behind banking crises. Key message: successful banks depend on successful states and clients and vice versa.
