Chapter Chapter 3 in International Labour Mobility, 2023, pp 19-39 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter, a synthesis of the most important and defining theories of migration is made, from Ravenstein’s theory and that of rational choice, to the institutional theory. The theories are analysed from the perspective of the factors present in the countries of origin and destination and, most importantly, the role of remitters in their definition is emphasized.
