Chapter Chapter 2 in Advanced Mathematics for Engineers and Physicists, 2022, pp 45-99 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Chapter 2 is devoted to higher order differential equations, mainly to linear differential equations. We introduce the vector space of the solutions of a homogeneous linear differential equation and the affine space of the solutions for the non-homogeneous case. Linear equations with constant coefficients are placed in the foreground, because in this case we have a closed-form solution for homogeneous equations, as well as for a wide class of non-homogeneous equations. We also present the Euler-type equations which have variable coefficients but can be transformed into linear equations with constant coefficients.
