Chapter Chapter 4 in Advanced Mathematics for Engineers and Physicists, 2022, pp 191-247 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In Chap. 4 we discuss the expansion of periodic functions into infinite trigonometric series (introduced by Joseph Fourier in the early 1800s). Fourier series will be used in Chap. 7 to solve partial differential equations such as the wave equation, the heat equation, or the Laplace equation. General orthogonal systems of functions are also introduced.
