Chapter Chapter 7 in Advanced Mathematics for Engineers and Physicists, 2022, pp 359-434 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Chapter 7 is an introduction to “The Equations of Mathematical Physics”—quasilinear second-order partial differential equations that are mostly used in Physics and Engineering. We begin by classifying these equations and introduce the characteristics method to find their canonical form. We present the solution of the one-dimensional and two-dimensional wave equation, the heat flow equation and the Dirichlet problem for Laplace’s equation.
