Abstract:
Abstract This chapter analyses the main characteristics of a supply network 5.0, its most important stakeholders, its fundamental functioning nodes, its most noticeable risks, and matters of concern. This chapter considers these issues based on an extended Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) Model v12.0, developed by the Supply Chain Council. The SCOR model offers metrics and best practices for each function of the supply network. The managers responsible for the supply network can use these metrics to monitor their performance continuously and identify areas for process improvements. This chapter details the SCOR model, describes its components, and extends the SCOR model introducing two critical components: Define and Protect. This chapter describes how digital transformation and data-driven strategy in supply network 5.0 become indispensable in the present and future of supply network management. It conveniently provides standardized processes, industry-wide adopted practices, and dedicated metrics to precisely measure performances. Supply network management evolved over the years. Initially, the focus was on improving collaboration between the departments. The focus now is on increasing collaboration and information sharing with partners such as vendors or retailers and possibly the end customer. The channel partners act towards a common goal rather than maximizing profits.
