Abstract: Abstract The world has been hit by a COVID-19 catastrophe, a humanitarian disaster that has stopped the entire socioeconomic system. The tourist industry has been hit the hardest, as it is a major source of employment and revenue in developed and developing nations. The situation forced the industry to have strategies that could be fruitful in managing and minimising the impact of COVID-19 across the globe. This study aims to suggest a set-theoretical approach in the form of COVID-19 response strategies to evoke positive outcomes for the tourism and travel industry. A systematic literature review was performed, as regards the research method, using the PRISMA protocol (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). The PRISMA approach enables the screening and selection of high-quality and impact research studies. The findings contribute to the detailed predictions of the future tourism development for the hotel sector, travel agencies and tourist attractions and propose a framework of possible recovery strategies that may be resilient for the tourism and hospitality industry to respond to the changes taking place.
