Chapter Chapter 2 in Overcoming Productivity Challenges in Small Countries, 2023, pp 23-45 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter journeys into the determinants or drivers of Labour Productivity and Total Factor Productivity in Jamaica. Learning from the literature and research in other regions, the chapter explores several factors that might impact productivity. The chapter employs a Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) where the results are then compared to estimates produced by a Canonical Cointegration Regression (CCR) model for robustness. The results emanating from the models suggest that Human Capital development and Corruption control are factors that can positively impact productivity growth in Jamaica.
