Chapter Chapter 12 in Food Security in the Economy of the Future, 2023, pp 115-121 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The paper aims to review advanced digital technologies in agriculture and assess their contribution to food security. The authors apply regression analysis to determine the impact of the Digital Competitiveness Index on the Global Food Security Index. A sample of the world’s top 10 digital economies, for which food security statistics are kept, was formed for the research. The study is based on data for 2021. Additionally, the authors conduct a case study of advanced digital technology in agriculture in Russia (a large digital agricultural economy) with a high level of technology detail in 2021. As a result, the authors prove that advanced digital technologies in agriculture make a significant contribution to food security, but the potential for this contribution to growth has not been unlocked. Advanced digital technologies have not yet been properly adapted to the peculiarities of agriculture and therefore make a limited contribution to its development. The theoretical significance of the results and conclusions lies in the substantiation of the need to consider the peculiarities of the digitalization of agriculture when introducing advanced technologies to it.
