Conceptual Framework on Proactive Conflict Management in Smart Education

Abstract: Abstract Purpose: Smart education has been the new paradigm in open distance electronic learning or virtual learning. Through the use of intelligent technologies, smart education, an emerging educational paradigm, tends to promote and develop students into future world leaders. The challenge is that many conflicting issues affect the implementation of smart education. This research aims at providing a proactive method of resolving conflicts in such a promising educational system. Design/methodology/approach: It presents a comprehensive empirical survey on smart education models and reconstructs them to consider a new approach to managing conflict in such smart educational models. The proposed framework relies on the classified critical conflict factors in the smart education environment and the possible resolution strategies. Findings: The findings can be employed as a reference guide to understanding smart education models and the effectiveness of ensuring a conflict-free smart education environment. Research Limitation: The study constitute educational models but limited to those that are concerned with open distance electronic learning. Many educational models are in literature, however, the focus of this paper is on only those that provide smart education. Practical implication: The study presents the following recommendations; a need for establishing standards for constructing educational institution’s systems with conflict management, build the capacity of quality service in open distance electronic learning institutions. Social implication: The survey adds literature to the ongoing research in smart education. In addition, it unfolds new knowledge to the policy makers to amend policies to provide standardized scheme for smart education. This will ensure quality of service in open distance electronic learning environment. Originality/Value – This research is relevant to conceptualizing smart education implementation with a focus on conflict management and developing a novel proactive automatic conflict management in smart education as a reference guide to understanding conflict management.
