Chapter Chapter 19 in Shipping and Logistics Management, 2023, pp 289-308 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter aims to review the regulations and measures concerning security and safety in the shipping industry. We begin with a historical overview of the development of international regulatory frameworks, before exploring the standards that currently govern the shipping industry. We then move to discuss the shipping industry’s responses to regulatory measures and identify some of the possible future directions for regulation of the shipping industry.
