Chapter Chapter 4 in The History and Future of Economics, 2023, pp 31-41 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In the years from 1550 to 1750 CE an important illusion was demolished, namely the embedded historic idea of geo-centrism, that the Earth is the center of the universe and that and that the sun, moon, planets and stars orbit around the Earth. The geocentric model was the predominant description of the cosmos in many ancient civilizations. It was accepted and taught by the wisest of the wise, including Aristotle in Classical Greece and Ptolemy in Roman Egypt.
