Abstract:
Abstract The “Age of Discovery”, started after the capture of Constantinople by the Ottoman Turks in 1452, and the closing of the overland “Silk Road”. Some overland trade from the far East was redirected to Aleppo and Damascus in Syria, but European explorers and merchants began to seek routes by sea and trading opportunities in distant countries, especially the Far East.
