A chapter in Fault Lines After COVID-19, 2023, pp 1-9 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The world economy is recovering from the crisis caused by the recent COVID-19 pandemic but the war in Ukraine and heightened geopolitical tensions have created additional negative shocks. The pandemic temporarily shrouded other underlying issues and problems that will come increasingly to the fore, such as global warming, population aging, faltering growth in China, autocratic challenges to democracy, flaws in the international monetary and financial system and high debt levels. In the beginning of September 2022, a group of renowned academics and policy makers gathered in Reykjavik, Iceland, for an event hosted by the Institute of International Affairs of the University of Iceland and discussed these issues. This volume contains a collection of the papers that were presented.
