Abstract Beginning with a quote from Barrie, this chapter combines fiscal and monetary policies with insights about unemployment and inflation, placing the analysis in a dynamic setting. It thus introduces, in simple terms, the structure of DSGE models used in contemporary economics to analyse the macroeconomy.
