Chapter Chapter 5 in Technical Analysis Applications, 2023, pp 91-113 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract These are the main elements of technical analysis. All will be made explicit and exemplified on domestic and foreign markets. We will show situations where the signals were false, and we will try predictions that can be verified in the future. We will try to answer the question: “is technical analysis a self-sustaining theory?” If all analysts, brokers, journalists, and investors notice that a declining pattern is forming and comment on it, few will likely buy at those times. Naturally, the price will decrease, due to the pressure on the sale side. The pattern will be confirmed in this way, concluding that technical analysis is a powerful method of stock market analysis. Could this be the explanation for the success of the technical analysis? Each pattern has an explanation. We will look at both their confirmations and their refutations in practice.
