Abstract:
Abstract The idea of the derivative generalizes to functions of more than one variable where can capture the rate of change relative to one of the variables. Consider the function $$V(r,h)=\pi r^2 h$$ V ( r , h ) = π r 2 h which is the volume of a cylinder as seen in figure 20.1. This is the function of the two variables r and h.
