Chapter Chapter 15 in Communication Climate at Work, 2023, pp 127-135 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Researchers and those studying communication climate can seek out narratives from working life. Collecting and interpreting such narratives can provide a better understanding of what constitutes a well-functioning communication climate, and what it takes to establish and maintain it. This final chapter provides suggestions for further investigation of critical quality moments, friendly friction, psychological safety, and other concepts from the book. Rich and vivid narratives from organisational life are the empirical gold that can help us study and understand the communication climate. Interviews and conversations are a primary data source. The interviewer needs to guide the interviewee beyond generalisations and probe for details about unfolding events. Reflections that begin as narratives can generate ideas for small-scale improvements in how people communicate and collaborate at work.
