Chapter Chapter 45 in Libertarian Autobiographies, 2023, pp 261-264 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The beauty of free markets is their ability to liberate human ingenuity by allowing people to choose. Without choice, humans are stripped of dignity and reduced to mere automatons. This essay draws on personal experiences to show that creative expression is inextricably linked to the market’s quest for empowerment through choice. Furthermore, on a national level, the case study of Jamaica is illustrated to depict how the anti-choice policies of the Michael Manley regime derailed economic progress and impeded the prospects of a once-promising country. As shown in this essay an attack on market is an assault on human dignity and self-expression. Limiting one’s potential to choose only results in stagnation and cultural barrenness.
