Chapter Chapter 33 in The Cuba Interviews, 2023, pp 331-334 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Part VIII explores Cuba’s priority sectors: health, medical tourism, and biopharmaceuticals. It provides industry insights from doctors, executives, and an editor of a peer-reviewed medical journal. These interviews highlight the successes of the healthcare system, research and collaboration, investments, pharmaceuticals, vaccine development, joint ventures, and medical tourism. This chapter is an interview with the CEO of NEYROS, a start-up pharmaceutical research company in the Russian Federation. Dr. Dmitry Chelovskiy discusses collaboration with Cuba’s Center for Research and Development of Medicines (CIDEM). Supported by the Skolkovo Innovation Center in Moscow, the project studied neurological diseases focusing on a new Parkinson’s medication. At the time of this interview in April 2021, preclinical studies had been ongoing for three years.
