Abstract:
The focus of this chapter are the key institutional aspects (e.g., legal status, mandate, objectives and organisation) of the international financial fora. The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) and the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) are examined in detail since they are of importance for international and then for EU banking law. This is followed by a brief presentation of the international fora in the field of capital markets law (namely the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI)), the international financial fora in other branches of public international financial law, as well as the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in the field of combatting the use of the financial system for the commitment of economic crimes and the Committee on the Global Financial System (CGFS).
