Chapter Chapter 6 in Global Perspectives on Green HRM, 2023, pp 127-153 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This study aimed to investigate the moderating role of gender and employee championing behaviour on the relationship between green human resource management (GHRM)Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) practices and the sustainable organisational performance (SOP) of ready-made garment (RMG) factories in Bangladesh. To test the conceptual research model, this study developed a questionnaire and collected data from three hundred eighty-nine employees from across the RMG industry. The hypotheses were examined using hierarchical regression. The empirical findings indicated that GHRM practices have a substantial connection with sustainable organisational performance, including economic performance, environmental performance, and social sustainability. Furthermore, the study discovered that employee championing behaviour increases the link between GHRM practices and sustainable firm performance in Bangladesh’s RMG manufacturers. However, the study revealed that gender had no moderating effect on the relation between GHRM and SOP. The study emphasises the importance of GHRM practices in achieving long-term performance in the RMG industry, Bangladesh’s largest export-oriented business. The study also provides implications for theory, policy, and practice.
