Chapter 2 in Neo Strategic Management, 2023, pp 5-14 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Today’s business environment is witnessing substantial disruptions. Tomorrow will bring about a lot more. Actually tomorrow’s shifts will be as dramatic as to trigger fundamental disruptions in all dimensions of business from the concept to the players and the outcomes. Those shifts or disruptions will go all the way from technology and economics to politics and socio-cultural forces. And this will create several futures. There is the future of technology, the future of the corporation, the future of the players, and the future of the management process. Each and every “future” has premises and implications. Some premises and implications are congruent with each other, and some others are contradictory. This chapter deals with the specifics of each “future” and casts a view as to the congruence and dissonance of the elements. Analysis relates to today’s status quo but the future may induce far more radical shifts than projected here. Approach is qualitative and research is based on recent work on disruptions seen from different angles (McKinsey and company, McKinsey to automate activities Technology Trends, outlook 2022, Applied AI, August 2022).
