Chapter Chapter 3 in Six Crises of the World Economy, 2023, pp 43-79 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter is a general outline of the turbulent development of the process of globalization, in its economic and political aspects, since World War II to the present. It provides a background for the assertions on the world economy and the global economic crises that are discussed in the rest of the book. The chapter sketches the evolving situation of the world since the end of World War II, including the gestation of the Cold War, the Sino-Soviet split, the emergence of the movement of non-aligned countries, the dissapearance of the USSR and its sphere of influence, the accelerated integration of China in the world economy in recent decades, and the national manifestations of the crises of the world economy in the past half century.
