Chapter Chapter 1 in Trust and European-Russian Energy Relations, 2023, pp 1-22 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The first chapter presents the main argument of the book, that trust, in addition to political and commercial factors, influenced outcomes in the selected cases at various points over the past four decades. It introduces the relevant issues of European-Russian energy relations addressing both the political and commercial dimensions of oil and gas relations. It also frames the topic of trust, explaining why it is relevant and then situates international energy relations in the context of extant scholarship on trust in the social sciences. The chapter concludes by laying out a framework of analysis.
