Chapter Chapter 4 in Trust and European-Russian Energy Relations, 2023, pp 73-99 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The structure of this chapter mirrors the previous insofar as it identifies the actors and traces the development of trust and cooperation over the entire cycle of oil and gas cooperation beginning in the 1990s to 2014. The experience of British-Russian cooperation represents a case of high trust at the outset which was destroyed by a series of events. As with the previous case study, this chapter presents the geopolitical, historical and economic factors that influenced cooperation and explores the issues that either promoted or undermined trust.
