A chapter in Maritime Decarbonization, 2023, pp 387-402 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract An increasing number of energy supply companies are already becoming active in developing the alternative fuels ecosystems for the maritime industry and working with others to do this. This chapter provides insights into the experience of several energy companies through two case-studies of first movers in LNG (liquified natural gas) bunkering and the lessons learned. Its authors identify the opportunities and challenges for forerunners, the significance of transformative collaborations between both private- and public-sector actors in the ecosystem, and the significance of an Anchor Partner in collaborations. They conclude by discussing potential pathways forward.
