A chapter in Maritime Decarbonization, 2023, pp 403-416 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The increasing availability of data and cloud computing has enabled much of the digital technology required for operational efficiency optimisation, but also business model and process changes. The technology and digital solutions are now available, enabling data sharing, transparency, awareness, and decision support in an integrated approach which is the only way to successfully tackle the challenges of decarbonization. The authors of this chapter discuss a wide range of digital support solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions including: operations monitoring and reporting, voyage optimisation, fleet allocation and schedule optimisation, port call optimisation, energy efficient ship design, and monitoring the cost and supply of alternative fuels.
