Abstract: Abstract Ph.D. journeys are learningLearning projects, and to grow the right skills, you need to analyze your project and work context, reflect on your current skills, and decide which skills to develop when and how. TheAcademic Development plan result is a personal Academic Development PlanPersonal Academic Development plan that serves as a roadmap to move from your current skills to the skills required for your project. These skills are also needed for doing academic work which includes researchResearch and publishingPublishing, teachingTeaching, supervisingSupervising, acquiring research grantsResearch grants, administrative tasksAdministrative tasks, and developing international experienceInternational experience. Focusing on top academicsTop academics, seven strategies are identified for doing such activities effectively. For Ph.D. students, six academic skills are essential. Grouped into three categories, these are related to doing (researchResearch and collaborationCollaboration), communicating (writingWriting and presenting), and managing (time management and persistence).
